    Firstly the helmet - must have a cortosis weave. Cortosis disrupts lightsaber blades. In the EU cortosis is difficult to make, though Sith use Sith Alchemy to make it. Came across it in the old Dark Side sourcebook for SWRPG by WotC. Should have been addressed. During the series, yet I guess not.

    Armand wasn’t so overwhelmed by guilt guarded by Sam who was so enthralled by the play he was mouthing it word for word not paying Armand any mind! Armand was reading that script and making notes like always and that’s how he knew when Lestat was off script. He was observing the crowds reactions like always. He literally had everyone faced down on a table just by yelling enough. He’s definitely a puppeteer somehow…

    I am not an Armand Apologist, I am not an Armand defender. I am an Armand understand and enjoyer. Every time people are like “Why would Armand do this” I feel like they haven’t really reckoned with the mindfuck that is his existence. I feel like I am the only person at times who doesn't think Armand is some purposeful liar, I truly believe that is giving him way too much credit. I think it was incredible and deliberate that the writers took one of the most defining lines of Armand's inaction ("I could not prevent it") and weaved it through his entire psychological profile. It is where Armand has internalized learned helplessness. We are watching him play the role he has always played and then asking why is he doing that. Well, we know why the show has told us. Even in the book Louis has to tell Armand that he doesn't even use a 10th of the power he has. He could have stopped it but Armand himself doesn't think he can so he doesn't do anything at all. Most people watching/ reading IWTV: There is no way that Armand truly believes he's powerless The Writers: What If he really did tho? “It’s not MY coven anymore, so I can’t stop them, but Louis is MY companion so I’M gonna push and save HIM. I can’t save Claudia, Santiago is HER coven leader now. I can’t prevent him from disciplining his followers.” He tells himself over and over and makes sure Louis knows it

    My initial reaction was visceral too, I am still so confused and angry and curious. So many things feel so off. Even though I know the story the show adds new layers, some great, others debatable... So we never really know what's gonna happen. There are still too many inconclusive things to close off in one episode. But I'm gonna wait until we see the full picture next week, they told us to stick with them and trust the process... 🤞🏼

    y'all it makes sense that ARMAND saved Louis. Who do you choose to be your companion for eternity if you're him? The one who yes sold you, your daughter and her new wife out but then saves YOU, uses 'alllllll' his strength to control the mortals minds and make them agree to banishment....or the man who gave the testimony that condemned your spark in the dark and her companion? Armand knows there's no way he comes out of selling them out without Louis being angry, but if he uses his incredible mind gift to save Louis while his 'competition' is why the Coven has enough to detain him...well.

    First let me say, the writers of this show are PHENOMENAL!! HANDS DOWN THE BEST SCRIPT EVERRR!! Going Against the popular here- Claudia deserved everything that she got. What everyone seems to be forgetting is that as a vampire in a coven abides by written laws that you have to abide by within that coven. Hence, Claudia agreeing to them when she accepted the coven ..Louis and Claudia were never a part of a coven and so consequences of those laws in their mind, do not apply to them. However, they are well aware of the laws when they went to Paris, and still chose to be defiant in their own way, or when it suited them. I do not for one second believe that Armand could not prevent circumstances and the outcome from unfolding. He’s a 500 year old vampire more powerful than that and the entire coven together. But he does abide by laws because that is in which he was created and he’s even held the coven to those same laws because he killed Santiago‘s maker for the same reason that Claudia made her companion. Claudia was becoming a burden and for everyone that loved Louis, are able to see that his love for her will bring about his demise so she had to be done away with.. This is not a matter of could Armond prevent Claudia from dying, and why he couldn’t freeze himself. He was not supposed to there are laws that you need to abide by and you need to understand the circumstances of your choices. Similar to a judge in a courtroom who would have to exclude himself from a trial of a loved one because of bias. But he would still have to adhere to those laws, .So everything., no matter how sad and unfortunate, happened exactly the way that it should have. if you guys were paying attention in the previous episodes, Louie knew that he could manipulate Armand to a certain degree because he was not fully healed from Lestat. (He even said so) So he was expecting to do what he wanted to do and receive consequences for it and unfortunately, that’s not the way of life especially vampire life. This is the one series that has me in a definite chokehold and I’m scheming on how I could watch the final episode without having to wait another week !! Bravo to the writers! Phenomenally written!

    Agree with everything you said, my question is how does Armand, a 500 year old vampire that is so powerful is being blocked by the playwright Sam!? I’m with Samuel, I think it was lestat that stopped the audience from sentencing Louis to death because Armand in his narration said that it took him a look of strength to do it for Louis… and that immediately gave me the red flags because 1. Armand sold them out. 2. He’s not injured in any way to have to force his powers to save Louis. Also wanted to point out that Madeleine died for no reason because she was sentenced since she was made without the “consent” of the coven leader but in one scene Santiago tells Sam “I’m about to break the 5th law” when Lestat kept going off script, and the 5th law was that a vampire can’t destroy another vampire unless they are the coven leader… so why would Santiago say to other coven members that he’s gonna break the rule?

    • @ashrl7
      @ashrl7 6 днів тому

      This is a good point! I wondered too if it was really Lestat that stopped Louis from being killed in the true story. That’s what I assumed until the camera panned to Armand…

    • @remholloway2579
      @remholloway2579 5 днів тому

      I think it was Armand that did stop it. It is plausible that it did take all his strength, because the theater was completely full with humans. All of those minds together… stopping them from rendering the judgment they were going to give and feeding them what he wanted and forced them to speak. That is a feat we haven’t seen before. Lestat can do it, but not at that level. Armand’s speciality so to speak is the mind gift. He’s unusually very strong in it especially against vampires that are older than him. So I do believe that it was plausible that it did take a lot out of him…. But did I believe that he was completely defenseless and couldn’t have worked together with Lestat to devise a way to save all of them… nope. That hoe is lying. Especially because I think caught a glimpse of a scene where Armand was looking at the crowd and smirking a little. Maybe it was just my imagination. But I do think I saw it.

    • @rach2755
      @rach2755 5 днів тому

      @@remholloway2579 while it is possible Armand hasn’t given the viewers any reason to trust him when he’s been caught lying many times. Like you can’t convince me to think that man couldn’t have used his powers to save Claudia and Madeleine, it is all bullshit. Armand easily put to sleep his entire coven in episode 4, and no one will convince me he couldn’t have done the same again. So I call bullshit again. However, we will see what happens next week but I am pretty sure that I’m right.

    • @NyikoDoris
      @NyikoDoris 5 днів тому

      I think he said he's gonna break the 5th law in the same vein someone annoyed by somebody else says "I'm gonna commit a crime." he's expressing his frustration at Lestat not following their script and that he's magnetising. Remember, Santiago never really had competition for the star's role on that stage and the few times we saw Claudia was beloved, he was livid. Santiago was jealous of Lestat. Just two messy blonds fighting for the biggest queen at a trial And out of the two potential companions that Louis is mad at, Armand looks the best compared to Lestat at that moment because while Armand sold them out, Lestat testified and THAT condemned Claudeleine. Armand gets Louis away from Lestat of his 'own free will' AND Claudia is gone, there is no one else to really compete with. He saved Louis, I do believe he could've saved Claudeleine but chose not to and instead said he used all his strength to save Louis.

    • @remholloway2579
      @remholloway2579 5 днів тому

      @@rach2755 I’m not arguing the fact that Armand could have saved Claudia and Madeline at all. In fact I’m fairly sure he was aware of what was happening even before things reached that point, he could have stopped it then; but he actively chose not to. Even when the trial came about like I stated previously he could have worked with Lestat to save them. But he did not, there are so many ways he could have gone about it. But he didn’t. In this instance, I’m arguing in regards to the scenario we find ourselves in towards the end of this episode. Yes it is plausible that he spent all his power controlling all those minds…. But still, he could have reached out to Lestat mind to mind and asked for help…. But he did not.

  • @yaz7114
    @yaz7114 6 днів тому

    the story louis and armand are spinning doesnt make sense. if lestat's there at the trial for revenge then why is he crying, apologising and asking louis for forgiveness and admitting to hurting him. why is he insisting on getting punished for breaking the law by creating claudia? even though santiago and the coven are trying to cover for him. its very easy to tell when lestat's lying because he's followoing the script. its when he's off script you see santiago panick, you see the projector behind him go out of synch, you see lestat's true emotions: regret for hurting louis, pride for claudia. also, as daniel pointed out, how is the 500 year old vampire who can walk in the sun and incapacitate his entire coven with a snap of his finger held hostage by sam the playwright. its not even a convincing lie: he didnt want to prevent it because he wasnted claudia and madeleine out of the way. and i can bet you all the money i have that he orchestrated the whole thing and put santiago as a figurehead to keep his hands clean like a mob-boss who delegates his kills to his underlings.

    I mean, if you rewatch 1x05 carefully, Claudia (the narrator) remembered similar lines ("Cheri, I don't want to fight like this anymore" & "I am trying to restrain myself"), and we didn't see what happened in the coffin room, only heard that the fight calmed down (with Louis reassuring Claudia that they are done), and then escalating again. The big question was WHAT prompted the escalation, and they answered it. Plus, weirdly enough, Lestat's narration absolves Louis of his one glaring flaw - indifference towards Claudia's suffering. If anything it makes him more sympathetic without diminishing his status as a victim.

    Lestat is a known liar and both Louie and Claudia have some of the same recollections about him. I believe Louie when he said it’s true about him begging Lestat to create Claudia, but Lestat was lying about the fight where he made Louie the aggressor. Claudia would have the same memory and as far as we know, her version completely tracks with Louis’s.

      lestat wasnt lying about the fight because if you go back to ep 5 of season 1, you can hear lestat scream 'cheri im trying to restrain myself.' there is also a shot of their coffin of ep 7 of season 1 with a dent on it, from where louis smacked lestat's face into it. the entire fight was from claudia's pov and her diaries but she wasnt present for this scene because she was out in the hallway by the stairs. if he was lying, louis would have called him out on stage. besides, louis is capable of such cruelty, just go back and watch his fight with armand in ep 5 when he threw his grooming in his face. th

      He is litteraly not an agressor in this recolection whatsoever. On the contrary he is finally standing up and protecting Claudia and himself. Lestat was the one who started the fight and the power imbalance is huge. Louis is absolutely a victim in both versions. Plus it just shows what happened behind the wall and what Claudia didn't see but perfectly alignes with the previous version. I don't know why people don't want this version to be true except making Louis into a perfect victim. He has the right to defend himself and it doesn't make him an aggressor. I'm happy he got some hits in and stood up for Claudia. I hope he does something worse to Armand next episode.

      @@user-cv6fd4qe3bI agree with you… and I would take it a step further and say that Lestat is a victim in this as well. Yes he did the physical assault and that is no laughing matter and this in no way excuses what he does… but Louis is HIGHLY emotionally abusive. 7 years Lestat spent trying to get Louis to look at him, to love on him. But Louis wouldn’t do it. Even before Claudia came into their lives, Louis knew exactly the buttons to press, where exactly to insert his knife, and twists it so savagely that it almost leaves you breathless. That is exactly why both men are so drawn to him, and in a lot of instances so helpless when it comes to him. Again this isn’t to say that Louis is not a victim, he is very much so. But he isn’t the only one.

      They were both at fault for the fight in my opinion and I thought the show did a good job of making them both contributors, but at the same time both sympathetic. Louis wasn't necessarily made the aggressor. He was rightfully defending Claudia because Lestat put hands on her. However, he was angry and said hurtful things, which we have seen him do in the show before. Louis says in s1 that Lestat loved him because he wasn't a doormat and he enjoyed when he fought back. Louis is not a doormat and got angry when he felt Claudia was threatened like most parents would. I also think Lestat was not necessarily an aggressor. He also has been shown repeatedly in the series to struggle with containing his emotions and has outbursts. He lost control when things escalated. As for Lestat being a liar, there is truth to that. However, we would be biased not to also consider Louis' memories are distorted and episode one established that Claudia was not entirely honest with what was put in the journals (hence the "i do not dream" discussion from episode 1). In addition to that, Claudia was not a witness to what was happening in the other room but she does recall some of the conversation that we see taking place in the episode back last season where Lestat is pleading with Louis to stop. So she didn't lie, but she also didn't have the full perspective of the fight. I think it was pretty clear that it was both of them and that was a fair move from the writers. Neither of them went into the scene expecting to harm the other. Things boiled over and they both lost control. But Lestat took it further and was apologetic for it. It's a complex situation with lots of emotions and history at play.

    Armand definitely stopped those people from sentencing Louis, that's why they set precedence with his mind gift but the whole thing is a long con in itself cause his "I couldn't prevent it" is not true given the extent of his power. It's more "I wouldn't prevent it". But Louis believes and defends it and even if it doesn't make sense, he chooses to hold on to it. A 500-year-old vampire who can defy the sun isn't being held captive by Sam and his one weapon, bffr.

      I think Armand could have done more - in a subtle way, and over time - but he was manipulating an entire theatre of humans and the coven in that moment. When Lestat controlled the soldiers in S1 it took a toll on him. I think a coven ready for Armand's mind control, working together, would be more difficult to overpower. Particularly if they'd been messing with him subtly before that. Personally I think they'd been manipulating Louis, Claudia and Armand gently anyway or they would have missed the diaries and noticed the coven reading them.

      For one its readily apparent that the Acolyte is poorly written and acted and pays little attention to Star War canon, let alone some basic physics (which adds to the level of ‘stupid’ inherent in it’s writing. Thats legitimate enough right there for most people to dislike and dismiss the show for what it is, mediocre crap (at best). We’ll see if the remaining episodes are any better… Im hoping it improves but it isn’t looking too good thus far.
